"Osseous Fledgling"
A femur bone (unknown origin) found along a woodland trail began the creative process for the body of this piece. She soon had wings attached from rusted antique cushion springs found in a discarded cistern. Her beautiful skull was once a lively small animal. She also is adorned with large and small bones of the spine of a deer found on a hike. The base(s) are interesting pieces of wood that spoke to me while running through the forest.

("Zombie Ballerina"
This piece won the Sutton Garten Award for Merit in Sculpture at the Indianapolis Art Center 79th Student Show in December 2016. Her nimble body is made from dead vines found in an Indiana State Park; her head from a stone found in the Pacific Ocean. By the way, unbeknownst to me, the stone was full of worms! Utmost patience was executed to deliver this work to the art center in tip-to shape ... sans 'fragrance.'
She is posed executing a prominent on pointe jete (although, missing a foot). Her headdress is made from a rusty piece rescued from the street side while marching in a protest to save trees. Feathers adorn her crown to celebrate her unique life.
